Winner of BLI Production Printer Award: Canon imagePRESS C850

Canon imagePRESS C850 with imagePRESS Server F200 has received the Buyers Laboratory (BLI) Production Printer 2017 Pro Award for Outstanding Color Light Production Device.

According to BLI, the features that placed the Canon imagePRESS C850 ahead of the pack include:

  • Very good, consistent image quality
  • Outstanding job management capabilities
  • Intuitive workflow creation features
  • Versatile media and in-line finishing support
  • Fast speeds when switching between drawers and when switching between letter and ledger output

Canon imagePRESS C850: BLI’s findings

Here are the highlights of BLI’s findings for the Canon imagePRESS C850 digital press with imagePRESS Server F200:

“The Canon imagePRESS C850 with imagePRESS Server F200 delivers superior output and powerful job management capabilities in a small footprint,” said Pete Emory, BLI’s Director of U.S./Asia Research and Lab Services. “In BLI’s testing, image quality was equally outstanding on coated and uncoated stocks, and even with textured paper and envelopes. Further, the new inline creaser was found to reduce the typical ‘cracking’ effect on the spines of saddle-stitched booklets. These strengths ensure that print shops and CRDs can deliver the highest quality output possible to customers.”

“The device earned BLI’s 5-Star status for fine line production. Color calibration, especially when using the PRISMAsync controller with in-RIP G7 calibration, is straightforward, making it easy to maintain that high level of quality over longer runs. And with simple procedures for programming media types, creating automated workflows and submitting jobs, the imagePRESS C850 promises to keep operators productive throughout the day.”

“Keeping devices running at peak capacity is the key to satisfying customer demands and maintaining efficiency and profitability,” said George Mikolay, Senior Editor for A3 Production Print Devices at BLI. “And we found this solution’s job management to be outstanding. Operators can easily change settings when reprinting jobs, and Fiery Hot Folders allow an operator to easily apply predefined settings via drag and drop submission. At the Fiery server station, operators can even access the Canon user interface at the Fiery Ticker so that all device settings can be accessed without having to be in front of the unit.”

This most recent award brings Canon up to a total of 12 A3 Pick awards. In addition, 17 of Canon’s A3 models tested have earned a Highly Recommended rating.

Producing high quality output with optimal efficiency requires both award-winning equipment and workflow solutions that drive productivity.
